INIA (CISA)

Instituto Nacional de Investigación y Tecnología Agraria y Alimentaria (INIA) The National Institute for Agricultural and Food Research and Technology (INIA) is a Public Research Organisation belonging to the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation. It is dedicated to agrifood and forestry research.

INIA's mission is to satisfy the new demands on agricultural, livestock and forestry production, mitigate the effects of global change and contribute to food safety and the fight against hunger, through research and innovation.

The Animal Health Research Center (INIA-CISA) is a biosafety reference laboratory for FAO as well as a diagnostic reference laboratory for the EU. Its main activities focus on research on emerging, re-emerging and transboundary infectious diseases that affect animals, particularly those that have relevant economic and sanitary impact both in animal and human health (zoonoses).
