Webinar: Crimean-Congo Hemorrhagic Fever Workshop
During 26-29th April 2022, a specific workshop targeted on the diagnosis of Crimean-Congo hemorrhagic fever (CCHFV) in animal samples was carried out for the Balkans and Middle East beneficiary countries of the network (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Georgia, Lebanon, Montenegro, Republic of North Macedonia, Serbia and Turkey). The aim of this workshop was to provide general information on CCHF and to acquire essential theoretical and practical knowledge on laboratory diagnosis techniques for the detection of CCHFV.
The workshop took place in two sites: 1) at “La Residencia de Estudiantes”, and 2) at “Centro de “Investigación en Sanidad Animal (CISA-INIA, CSIC)” in Valdeolmos, Madrid (Spain). “La Residencia de Estudiantes” is an emblematic Spanish building that was chosen for theoretical training. On the other hand, “CISA-INIA”, is a rather unique research center, due to the size and quality of its biosafety level 3 (BSL-3) area, which is one of the largest in Europe.
This workshop was organized by the WP2 animal virology coordination team that includes researchers and technical staff from the “Emerging and Transboundary Diseases” group of CISA-INIA, with Drs. Miguel Ángel Jiménez-Clavero and Jovita Fernández-Pinero as coordinators of the activity.
