Seminar "Capacity building in medical entomology for Sahel countries"

A seminar has been organized by the medical entomology working group in the "Centre National de la Recherche et de Formation sur le Paludisme" (CNRFP), in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso from October 29th-30th, 2019.

Gathering representatives from Sahel, this 2-day meeting was the opportunity to take full measure of the diversity that makes up all the medical entomology laboratories of the MediLabSecure network, to better assess their needs in terms of surveillance and vector control, and to introduce them the activities of the medical entomology working group  that will be carried out throughout the next two years. The visit of the laboratories and insectariums, as well as the visit of the sentinel site for entomological and clinical surveillance of dengue fever, allowed to concretely address the public health challenges faced in the Region. In this perspective, the launch of MosKeyTool-Sahel will be the occasion to participate in the development of a common tool, useful for mosquitoes species identification in the Region.
