Webinar Introduces New Arbovirus Mapping Tool, Arbocarto, to MediLabSecure Network
On Tuesday, October 8, 2024, a webinar was held to introduce the MediLabSecure network to a new predictive mapping tool for arboviruses, Arbocarto. The event, coordinated by the medical entomology experts from French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD/MIVEGEC), brought together panelists from the French National Research Institute for Agriculture, Food, and the Environment (INRAE) and the French Agricultural Research Centre for International Development (Cirad).
Developed by Cirad, Arbocarto is a predictive tool designed to map mosquito populations and identify areas at high risk for mosquito abundance. This tool is aimed at helping prioritize surveillance, social mobilization, and vector control efforts.
Following the tool presentations, participants had the chance to watch live demonstrations of both versions of Arbocarto, with discussions on the advantages and limitations of each. Two Q&A sessions were held, allowing participants to ask questions via chat and interact directly with the panelists. A total of 38 participants from 11 countries within the network joined the session.
